250 years ago Francisco Carrau Vehils, Catalonia Vilassar fisherman, bought his first vineyard in 1752. Thus the winemaking tradition of Carrau, whose skills were passed from father to son begins. In 1931, the first winery that is acquired by the Carrau in Uruguay, in the region of Las Violetas is called “Vineyard Vilasar” as a souvenir to our hometown. Of the 20 hectares that had this vineyard it was only preserved until today a few original plants Marzemino, Nebbiolo and Sousao. This dialog vineyard was selected to be preserved for its high quality and as evidence of the genetic heritage was reserved for future generations. Vine when it has been carefully maintained can live and bear fruit quality for over 100 years.
